Lolz.... the potato chip thing from episode 8 of Deathnote cracks me up to no end... its SO dramatic. XD Maybe eating potato chips at L is supposed to be insulting somehow.. haha.
Also if you've read Romeo and Juliet, you'll get the thumb biting reference. XD;; Apparently in those days, biting your thumb at someone was the same as giving someone the finger now. Of course- for L, biting his thumb is just a habit, and he probably doesn't mean anything by it XD;;
